art for horses

All of the artwork on this website is part of the Art for Horses collection.
Horses can be courage to those who have become fearful and legs to those who can no longer walk.  From the back of a horse, a person can find the inspiration they have lost.   Unfortunately, these wonderful animals can end up neglected, abandoned, and even left standing in kill pens.  A change of purpose and a lot of TLC can often bring new life to these magnificent animals.   Rescued horses have become successful jumpers, pleasure horses and even incredible therapy horses.
Art for Horses is collection of paintings by Yvonne Hazelton, created for the purpose of rescuing and rehabilitating horses.   Through Art for Horses, money from the sale of paintings is  used to pay for feed, care and medical needs of horses pulled from kill pens and other unfortunate situations.  We cannot save every horse, however, with Art for Horses we can help the horses within our reach.
Your interest and support is greatly appreciated!

  A little about me...
I was born in the beautiful Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona, where I have lived all my life.    Most of my 'work' has consisted of training horses and painting.  After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education, I added commission artwork to the mix.  My commission subjects have varied from the family parakeet to Westminster dog show winners, backyard ponies to international show jumping horses, each animal just as special as the other.  I have also had the privilege of painting many award collections for specialty dog shows throughout the country.  A few years ago I started  'Art for Horses.com', using the sales of my original paintings to rescue and care for slaughter bound horses.

With summer temperatures well over 100 degrees, my husband and I often pack up our horses and kids and migrate to the higher elevations of northern Arizona, where the air is cool enough to breathe and the scenery is breathtaking.   We are so fortunate in Arizona to be able to enjoy the beautiful wildlife of both the Sonoran Desert and the Alpine forest.  Horses provide me with a world of inspiration.    From their backs, I have observed newborn elk, bighorn sheep, and herds of wild horses, not to mention the beauty of nature, itself.  Often, inspiration comes from watching my children interact with our horses.  Just watching a horse's power and grace is enough to move my soul.  I try to capture these wonderful moments and emotions in my paintings.  Usually done in oil, my paintings are detailed and realistic, varying in style from contemporary to western.  As an artist, I hope to share the beauty and inspiration that God has shared with me.
I hope you enjoy my art,
  Yvonne M Hazelton
